We're building a house!

This page shows how the building work is progressing.

Current state - 18th September 2005

18th September 2005	The front garden is nearing completion.
6th June 2005	We've moved in! Fences have been erected, and a garage door added.
14th May 2005	The inside of the house is finished. Outside, a retaining wall makes the upper section of the front yard level. The remainder of the driveway is finished. View 3 View 4 View 5
30th April 2005	Carpets and blinds have been installed. Electrical and plumbing is complete. View 4 View 5
20th March 2005	Bathrooms are complete. The top section of the driveway is down. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
12th December 2004	Lockup! The windows, exterior and interior doors have been installed. Inside, ceilings and cornices are all in place, but still need painting. View 5 The kitchen has been installed. Compare the original design with the finished kitchen.
5th December 2004	The roof is on, and the outside of the house is finished. Inside, plastering, plumbing and electrical wiring are finished. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
14th November 2004	The roof frame is finished, gutters and downpipes have been added. Inside, electrical wiring and sockets are in place. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
7th November 2004	The roof frame is largely in place. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
24th October 2004	All brickwork, interior and exterior, is now finished. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
17th October 2004	Lots of progress since last weekend. The garage walls appeared first, and then over the course of two days, all of the exterior walls were built. Window frames are in place, and a about half of the interior of the double-brick walls have been built. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5 View 6
10th October 2004	The interior bricks have been delivered, but the real sign that things are about to happen is that the portable toilet has arrived on site... The bricklayers have arrived too. A single layer of bricks has been laid all around the outside of the slab, the garage outline is in place, and part of the east wall is taking shape. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5 View 6
2nd October 2004	There was a big delay after pouring the slab before all of the bricks could be delivered, but at long last the bricks, window frames and door frames have arrived, and bricklaying should start soon. Still missing the interior bricks. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
7th August 2004	Concrete has been poured into the outline. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5 View 6
31st July 2004	The outline of the house has been marked out in the sand, and the plumbing pipes have been laid in the ground for the laundry, bathrooms and kitchen. The outline is covered with polythene, and steel reinforcement grids are laid on top, ready for the concrete to be poured. View 2 View 3 View 4 View 5
18th July 2004	First sign of building activity. The block has been cleared of weeds, built up about 30cm, and leveled. View 2 View 3 View 4
